Following the announcement of the Social Visit Pass (PLS) or PLS@Xpats, Malaysian Immigration (JIM) answered a frequently asked question about them.

With a pass, these specialists will be allowed to enter Malaysia for 30 days if they are urgently called to perform important work. This includes repair of plant equipment, electrical damage, ICT system failures, testing and commissioning of damaged assets and facilities before they are released to service.

1) What is PLS@XPATS?

PLS@XPATS is a professional work permit tool for international visitors for major and urgent work for 30 days using a Social Visit Pass (PLS).

2) What is the deadline for obtaining a work permit to install PLS@XPATS?

The maximum time allowed to obtain a work permit for a PLS@XPATS facility is 30 days. For countries with a visa validity period of less than 30 days, the specific period must comply with the country's visa requirements.

3) How long is the power of attorney valid?

The confirmation letter is valid for 30 days and for one trip (single entry visa) from the date of approval.

6) Do applicants need to apply for a visa to obtain a PLS@XPATS permit?

For citizens who require a visa prior to entering Malaysia, applicants must submit an online visa application (eVisa) or visa at a Malaysian embassy prior to traveling to Malaysia.

7) Are applicants allowed to enter Malaysia on a visa for PLS@XPATS purposes?

Applicants with a Visa on Arrival (VOA) are prohibited from entering Malaysia for PLS@XPATS purposes.

8) What is the PLS@XPATS service fee?

The PLS@XPATS features are free.

9) What is the processing time for PLS@XPATS approval?

The processing time is three business days.

10) Can the PLS@XPATS service be extended?

Extensions are not allowed in PLS@XPATS.

11) How to apply for PLS@XPATS?

Applications can be submitted via PLS@XPATS on the Malaysian Immigration Portal.

12) Which department manages the PLS@XPATS programs?

Applications will only be processed by the Foreign Service Section of the Malaysian Immigration Service, Putrajaya Branch.

13) What documents are required to apply for PLS@XPATS?

14) What is the passport validity period for applying for PLS@XPATS?

Passport valid for six months or more to apply for PLS@XPATS.

15) Is the applicant's right to stay in Malaysia based on the PLS@XPATS confirmation letter or visa entitlement to the country?

The applicant's right to stay in Malaysia is granted only on the basis of a letter of permission from PLS@XPATS for a period not exceeding 30 days. However, for countries with a visa of less than thirty (30) days, the length of stay in Malaysia depends on the availability of a visa in the country.

16) Which national companies can apply for PLS@XPATS?

This PLS@XPATS facility is open to foreign nationals with some field experience, with the exception of Israel and Afghanistan.

17) Until what age can I apply for PLS@XPATS?

PLS@XPATS is open to applicants 18 years of age or older, subject to eligibility requirements.

18) If a company is not registered with ESD Online, can it apply for PLS@XPATS?

Companies not registered with ESD Online can apply at PLS@XPATS.

19) Can applicants with disabilities apply for PLS@XPATS?

Disqualified applicants are not eligible to apply for PLS@XPATS.

20) If an applicant arrives at a port of entry in Malaysia without receiving a PLS@XPATS confirmation letter, will they be allowed to enter Malaysia to use this facility?

Applicants without PLS@XPATS permission will not be admitted to this institution.

21) If the previous application has expired, what is the latest date for a new PLS@XPATS application?

Subsequent applications may be submitted after the previous PLS@XPATS approval letter has expired.

22) Are PLS@XPATS candidates eligible for a dependent passport to bring their family to Malaysia?

Passing dependent objects is not allowed.

23) If a data entry error occurs while creating a PLS@XPATS application, will the application be processed?

If an input error occurs when submitting a PLS@XPATS application, the applicant must submit a new application after the original application was rejected.

24) Is PLS@XPATS valid throughout Malaysia?

PLS@XPATS delivery is valid for Peninsular Malaysia and the federal territories of Labuan only, excluding the states of Sabah and Sarawak.
