Google announced its first smartwatch and updated Pixel devices designed for better photos and more privacy.

Google previewed its new Pixel devices, which will compete with Apple and Samsung in the mobile industry, at its Made by Google 22 event on Thursday. He also detailed the Pixel Watch, the company's first smartwatch since it acquired fitness equipment maker Fitbit.

Google's latest software is powered by artificial intelligence, the Android operating system and Google's own Tensor scheme.

The Pixel 7 phone has a 6.3-inch display, uses Google's Tensor M2 chip and has a battery life of up to 72 hours. The Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.7-inch QHD display and a brighter display. The Pixel 7 also added facial recognition, improved computing power, and more efficient machine learning.

The Pixel 7 also converts audio messages into transcripts and text messages if needed.

The Pixel 7 camera is touted as the "best smartphone camera" in the industry, with a particular focus on enhancing images through machine learning and hardware improvements. Photo software settings have been adjusted to better suit people with darker skin tones. It also included accessibility features to make the mobile device more user-friendly for people with disabilities, implemented blurring software, and added automatic stabilization.

Safety was also a priority during the presentation. Google emphasized that its products focus on minimizing data collection, anonymizing data and end-to-end encryption to keep user data hidden and private. The Pixel 7 also comes with Google One VPN at no extra cost.

The Pixel 7 starts at $599 and the Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899.

Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch, which features a similar design to the Pixel 7 and is based on technology developed by Fitbit, which Google acquired in January 2021. The device offers notifications and information from Google Wallet, maps and more. The device also differs in that it tracks the user's heart rate continuously, rather than Apple tracking it every five minutes when they're not exercising. The Pixel Watch will be available with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi compatibility for $349, or with LTE compatibility for $399.
