Pls Enjoy This List Of Bonkers Things Women Were Told Would Attract Husbands In The 1950s
A British TikToker shared an absolutely insane list of ways women could attract men in the 1950s, and frankly, some of them... backfired. I was labeled "stay in the corner and cry quietly".
British expat Jordana Grace (@thejordanagrace), who lives in Queensland, found an old magazine from 1958 that lists 129 tips women can use to find men.
I know what you're thinking: "Oh my God, not another list of sexist rules about women being the perfect little housewives with no hair to show."
In truth, this list is anything but – it's more of a dramatic collection and, dare I say it, a small collection of items that I think have aged beautifully. At least for Gen Z like me who love tongue-in-cheek rubbish. Crazy jokes all day, every day baby!
For example, see tip number 30: "Learn to paint and assemble an easel outside of technical school."
Honestly... not a bad idea. Weren't the 1950s the equivalent of studying in a university life science building hoping to make medical student friends? We all made it! But there is more where it comes from.

"Number 17. Be nice to bad guys because nice is good," Jordana wrote in her TikTok video.
"Number 23. Go to all the high school meetings because there might be a widower there." iconic! You know what I mean??
"Number 25. Go back to your hometown because the neighbor's kid might be an eligible bachelor now," Jordana continued.
“Number 33. Bring a hat box.
“Number 38. Throw in the handkerchief. It still works.
"Number 34. He's wearing a bandage so he can ask what's going on."
The above is my favorite because it was really something I would do in high school to get a guy's attention.
And now, to save the best for last, I suggest 40:
"Stand in the corner and cry quietly because they will come and ask what happened."
I would absolutely pay real money to find out what other tips are on this list. I need to know!!
Thank you dear of any magazine. I am now armed to find the man of my dreams.
