Roku TV has announced that it plans to release a new collection for its home. With these new products, Roku is growing into a smart home technology company.
In an effort to go beyond its current offering, Roku has created a new line of affordable products to transform your home into a smart home. The company's first smart home offerings include:
- searchlight cameras
- Indoor and outdoor cameras
- 360 degree indoor camera
- Videos doorbell and bell
- Smart lightbulbs (white and colored)
- intelligent spotlights
- Intelligent sockets for indoor and outdoor use
According to Roku, these devices will be integrated into the Roku TV's operating system at launch. That means users can see who's at their doorstep from their TV. It also allows users to watch live streams from their Roku cameras. The devices will also be compatible with external audio integration as well as Roku's own voice control system.
To distribute new smart home products, Roku has partnered with Walmart to sell the products exclusively. "Diversifying into the smart home category is a natural extension of our business, and we're proud to partner with Walmart to make this experience easy and affordable," said Mustafa Ozgen, president of Roku Devices.
The new Roku cameras cost less than $27, with the cheapest option being the Roku Indoor Camera SE, a set for $26.99. Video doorbell options start at $79.99, lights start at $17.99, and smart plugs start at $13.99. The products are available now on the Roku website and Walmart website, but will arrive in physical Walmart stores on October 17th.
