Roku Launches Line Of SmartHome Products Developed With Wyze, Inks Exclusive Walmart Sales Deal

Streaming on Roku Devices Coming Soon: At Your Doorstep?

Roku is expanding beyond streaming media players, Roku-branded TVs, and home entertainment speakers with the launch of a range of new smart home products. Smart home products include security cameras, video doorbells, smart lights and smart plugs. Roku developed the products in partnership with Wise Labs, a Seattle-based smart home company founded by former Amazon employees.

Walmart is the exclusive retailer of Roku's line of smart homes, which will be available in nearly 3,500 Walmart stores across the United States starting October 17. Smart home products are also sold on roku.com and Walmart. com.

At launch, customers of Roku devices will be able to see who's standing at their door with the Roku Video Doorbell. Users can view the live feed from the Roku camera or use the Roku remote to open the video feed.

The company offers Roku Smart Home mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as a camera subscription that includes cloud video recording history, alerts, and package delivery notifications. According to the company, Roku smart home products will be compatible with third-party voice assistants. Security features include two-factor authentication (2FA), encrypted user data, and secure boot.
