Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Review: Excellent At This Price

Smartwatches are... getting smarter. Apple adds new features to the Apple Watch every year and the Apple Watch Series 8 is an attractive option for iPhone users. Google has finally announced the arrival of the Pixel Watch. And Samsung has the Galaxy Watch 5, which many consider the best smartwatch for Android users. So the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro has a tough fight ahead.

The Smart Band 7 Pro is designed as an Apple Watch for Xiaomi users and has some interesting fitness tracking features. It also seems to bridge the gap between Xiaomi's previous fitness trackers and current smartwatches. Yes, and the price is much lower than competitors.

How does Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro compare to Apple Watch Series 8 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5?

Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro design and display

The first thing you should notice about the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro is its design. The device does not look as stylish as Apple Watch or Pixel Watch. Instead, it looks like a cross between traditional fitness trackers, with a tall screen that's closer to the band than other devices in width. Of course, considering the price, it's hard to complain about its premium design.

However, that doesn't mean it looks bad. I don't mind the design at all. I prefer the look of a full smartwatch, but the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro still looks pretty cool. Sporty, but elegant.

The device has a removable strap and has a case-colored strap by default As for the body, there's a metal top half and a plastic bottom half with fitness tracking sensors underneath.

The display of the device is 1.64 inches and looks great. It will be bright enough in most situations and look relatively detailed. You can turn on the always-on display, which shows when you're not actively using it, but that affects battery life.

Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Specifications and Sensors

The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro has several health and fitness sensors under the hood, including a heart rate monitor and a blood oxygen sensor. There is also an accelerometer and a gyroscope for speed tracking.

This is a solid selection of probes, but not as large as other options. Many devices these days offer an ECG sensor and a temperature sensor, and I hope to see these features in other devices in the near future.

For basic fitness tracking, the Smart Band 7 Pro does a pretty good job, but it's not very accurate. The device does basic heart rate tracking, but doesn't seem to be very good at tracking sleep. For example, my Apple Watch says I slept for 8 hours 21 minutes, but it only says I slept for 7 hours 39 minutes. That's a huge difference of 40 minutes and I trust the Apple Watch more than the Xiaomi device.

Performance of Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro

The performance of Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro is not so good. The device has stuttered a lot since I first set it up, and overall it's been a relative disappointment.

Right now, in most cases, a smartwatch does something in the background, and you just look at the watch and it tracks activity without any intervention. But if you want to start exercising, for example, you may need a little more endurance than other smartwatches.

Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Battery and Charging

The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro comes with a battery that Xiaomi claims can last up to 6 days with heavy usage and 12 days with normal usage. Of course, I can use the device longer without charging than the Apple Watch or Pixel Watch, which is very important.

Of course, there are things that affect phone battery life. You'll notice a decrease in battery life, especially if you turn on the always-on display and adjust certain fitness tracking settings. But still, you can use the Smart Band 7 Pro for at least a few days, which is very useful.

Using the charger is a little annoying. Like a punch-hole Apple Watch or Pixel Watch charger, you'll find a pin-based charger that needs to be adjusted for proper use. Considering you only need to charge it every few days, it's not a big deal, but hopefully Xiaomi will improve things.

Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro Software

The Smart Band 7 Pro comes with Xiaomi's custom OS and it's... not that great. It's difficult to navigate, forces you to scroll through random menus, and often misregisters taps It looks a bit dated.

As you get used to it, the software will still do what you want, and you'll learn how to access features you use regularly.

The Smart Band 7 Pro also comes with Alexa, which is really nice. It allows you to control smart home devices and access information from the Internet using your voice The tool is a good choice for people working in the Amazon ecosystem.

Conclusion

Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro is not premium like some smartwatches. The design is a bit clunky, the software isn't great, and the fitness tracking isn't very accurate. But then you consider the price. In most regions, the device costs about $100, and at this price it seriously beats the competition.

competition

There aren't many good competitors in the sub-$100 price range. If you're looking for a smartwatch and want to spend as little money as possible, this is a great option.

Should I buy Xiaomi Smart Band?

Yes, but only if you don't want to spend extra money on something more expensive.
