Google Home App Error Not Letting Some Users Add Smart Home Devices: Report
Many users reported that the Google Home app shows an error while adding smart home devices. According to the report, some users are seeing an “Unable to contact” error message. According to 9to5Google, some users are unable to add new devices to the Google Home app.
Home app users manage Google products like Nest Cam and Nest Thermostat, as well as other third-party devices from various companies. This usually involves adding the device and linking it to an account on another service. This process seems to stop and prevent the user from completing the desired task.
Previously, new features were added that made access keys more secure and added a new layer of security to other modes of authentication factors. It's for Chrome and is being tested in October.
Also, it was previously reported that the company has made additional changes to the user interface (UI) to change the layout of the launcher app. But for some users, it doesn't work due to a helper procedure. You can control various treatments with many features such as pull down settings, dimming or switches that are not available in the previous settings.
This issue seems to be affecting a lot of users and most of them are TP-Link devices known as Home. Others reported issues with Gove Home, Nanoleaf, Samsung SmartThings on Google's support forums and some requested the same on Reddit. While for some it's new, for others it's been a long time.
It is also stated that it is only accessed by users who have logged into the application via an Android device to receive services. Some claim that it works on some devices and not others, but the problem persists for most users of the Google Home app and public preview.
